Its not hard believe
that in the Eastern Europe you can manage to live with salaries under
Euro 500, because everything is cheap. Problems arise when you
have to make a capital investment such as buying a new car since the
cheapest is around Euro 6000. Our
country has passed a law which allows you to import second hand cars but
that are not more than 6 years old. Most of them cost between 5500
- 15000 depending on the model. Facing
this problem I decided to keep my Peugeot 505 since I made a general
engine overhaul a few years back and I wasn't using it since I have an
another car for the city. Greatest problem was the consumption, at
best 505 would need 12,5 liters of Super 98 per 100 km which was too
much for my pocket, especially since 1 liter costs nearly Euro 1. I
went hunting for a solution and found it in installing natural gas as
the fuel. The Italian manufactured kit with installation and a 80
liter gas container costs only Euro 280. This was a must if I were
to drive the 505 in the city. Next
what had to be done was to do the metal works and a repaint job. Designing
took some time. |
